Bishop of Dover visits Romney Marsh Community Hub

The Rt Revd Rose Hudson-Wilkin visited the Romney Marsh Community Hub this month.

Posted by Clare Grove on Friday, September 10, 2021

The Rt Revd Rose Hudson-Wilkin, Bishop of Dover and Canterbury, visited the Romney Marsh Community Hub on Thursday 2 September.

As well as touring the Hub and its facilities, Bishop Rose met and enjoyed lunch with some of the members and took the time to understand how the charity works to support the wellbeing of those over 50 in our community.

Jon Wilson is our CEO. He said: “We were delighted to welcome Bishop Rose to the Hub. So many people here on the Romney Marsh - especially those over 50 - have experienced huge difficulties in the past year, and her words of support and encouragement lifted everyone’s spirits and meant so much to all those who attended.”

Bishop Rose agreed: “Those over 50 have experienced more isolation and loneliness during this pandemic than many other sectors of society; continuing to protect and support this age group as we move forward is crucial. This is particularly the case where people don’t have easy access to technology. I was so pleased to see the Hub in action and meet so many wonderful guests, as well as the team of staff and volunteers that works so hard to support the community.”
