Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy

Last updated: April 2025

  1. Introduction

Romney Marsh Community Hub is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all areas of our work and supply chains. As a UK-based charity, we support and uphold the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and are dedicated to ensuring that no form of slavery, forced labour or exploitation occurs within our organisation or the services we provide.

  1. Our Commitment

We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. We take a zero-tolerance approach and aim to act ethically and with integrity in all our operations, ensuring transparency and fairness across our practices and partnerships.

  1. Scope of Policy

This policy applies to all individuals working with or on behalf of Romney Marsh Community Hub, including employees, volunteers, trustees, contractors, and suppliers.

  1. Awareness and Training

We are committed to raising awareness among our team members about the signs and risks of modern slavery. Staff and volunteers receive training appropriate to their roles, ensuring they understand how to identify and report concerns.

  1. Supply Chains and Procurement

We work with trusted suppliers and partners who share our values and ethical standards. Where appropriate, we carry out due diligence on our suppliers and expect them to comply with anti-slavery and human trafficking laws. Any concerns raised about a supplier will be investigated and could result in termination of the relationship if a breach is found.

  1. Reporting Concerns

We encourage all staff, volunteers, and members of the public to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery. Reports can be made confidentially and without fear of retaliation. If you believe someone is in immediate danger, please contact the police.

To raise a concern internally, please email: hello@rmch.org.uk

Or call: 01797 363888.

  1. Governance and Review

Our Board of Trustees is responsible for overseeing the effectiveness of this policy and ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and ethical standards. This policy is reviewed annually and updated as necessary.
