How to get in touch with the Romney Marsh Community Hub
Posted on Tuesday, November 23, 2021
The team of volunteers has worked to support the NHS with managing queues, meeting and greeting, parking and sanitising arrivals for vaccination, from the original vaccination centre at Lydd Airport, and latterly Church Lane Surgery and the Old School, both in New Romney.
Our CEO, Jon Wilson said:
"When the vaccination programme launched, our immediate focus was on ensuring the elderly and the clinically vulnerable in the community were able to access the vaccination as soon as possible. The set-up and logistics needed to get the programme underway was enormous and we were lucky to have an incredible response to our appeal for volunteers, vast number of whom continue to give their time today.
The vaccination programme remains our biggest weapon in the fight against COVID-19 and, as we move to the next stage, I would like to extend my thanks to everyone who has given up their time and been involved in this effort.”
Tayo Bella is a Partner at the New Romney Pharmacy and a Clinical Lead for the New Romney Old School Vaccination Service.
“Working with the Romney Marsh Community Hub Volunteers, we have been able to administer over 25,000 Covid vaccinations at the New Romney Old School. Without the collaboration of the volunteers, this would have been almost impossible to achieve.
We are hugely grateful for the wonderful ambience, the information and support the volunteers have offered, as well as their enthusiasm, commitment, and hard work, which has been invaluable. We are confident that this great effort has helped to alleviate the effects of the pandemic in our community and in the world at large. We are delighted to celebrate and thank each of them; on behalf of New Romney Pharmacy, I want to say a big 'Thank you!' to everyone who has volunteered and to the staff and CEO of the Romney Marsh Community Hub for co-ordinating the efforts so brilliantly.”
