ACCESSIBILITY

Accessibility Policy
Last updated: April 2025

  1. Our Commitment to Accessibility

At Romney Marsh Community Hub we are committed to making our services, information and website accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability or technology. We understand that many of the people we support, including older adults and those with disabilities, may face barriers to accessing information and services. We aim to remove those barriers wherever possible.

  1. Website Accessibility

Our website has been designed with accessibility in mind. We follow best practices and aim to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard.

  • This includes:
  • Clear, easy-to-read text
  • High-contrast colour combinations
  • Keyboard navigability
  • Text alternatives for non-text content (like images)
  • Resizable text and layouts that adapt to different screen sizes
  • Support for screen readers and assistive technologies

We regularly review and test our website to ensure it remains accessible, and we welcome feedback to help us improve. More information can be found here.

  1. Accessible Communication

We strive to ensure all of our communications and resources are inclusive. This includes:

  • Offering large-print, plain-text, and easy-read versions of our documents on request
  • Using clear, jargon-free language wherever possible
  • Ensuring our staff and volunteers are trained in inclusive communication
  • Providing alternative formats and support for people with visual, hearing, cognitive, or mobility impairments
  1. Physical Accessibility

Where we provide in-person services or events, we aim to use venues that are wheelchair-accessible and have appropriate facilities (e.g., accessible toilets, hearing loops). If you have specific access needs, we encourage you to get in touch so we can support you effectively.

  1. Feedback and Contact

We are always looking to improve. If you experience any barriers while using our services or website, or have suggestions on how we could improve, we would love to hear from you.

You can contact us by:
Email: hello@rmch.org.uk
Phone: 01797 363888

We treat all feedback seriously and aim to respond promptly.

  1. Policy Review

This policy is reviewed annually or in response to significant changes in technology, accessibility standards, or user feedback.

We believe that accessibility is a continuous journey. Thank you for helping us make our charity as inclusive and welcoming as possible.
