How to get in touch with the Romney Marsh Community Hub
Posted on Tuesday, July 11, 2023
The award-winning Romney Marsh Community Hub is seeking applications from the community to join its board of Trustees, as well as recruiting for the role of Treasurer.
The Romney Marsh Community Hub has been providing support for older residents of Romney Marsh for nearly 30 years and now employs 25 full and part time employees, as well as organising over 60 volunteers to support its service offering.
Liz Taylor, who joined the charity as CEO in May, explains more:
“It is a hugely exciting time for the charity; we are planning to launch as a seven-day-a-week facility, opening the Hub as a base to the entire community, in addition to our traditional roles as a Day Centre and in supporting elderly residents in their homes throughout the Romney Marsh. Becoming a trustee presents a great opportunity for local people to take on an active role with the charity and help the leadership team ensure that the Hub continues to flourish, develop its services, and reach those who need our support across the whole community.”
Trustees are volunteers who comprise the Board of Directors of the charity and work in a non-executive role alongside the full-time senior management team. Trustees’ responsibilities are varied but include agreeing the charity’s strategic direction and ensuring it meets its stated charitable objectives. Trustees are also responsible for corporate governance - ensuring that it is appropriate, and that procedures are in place to manage risk - and that its financial affairs are correctly conducted and managed to ensure long term viability.
The Hub is also looking to appoint a Treasurer who is designated to oversee the Hub’s financial affairs and work alongside the management and bookkeeper. This is a vital role, and while no formal qualification is required, the Treasurer should have previous experience in managing finances.
A full specification and more information about the roles can be found at https://rmch.org.uk/work-with-.... Anyone interested in a Trustee position is welcome to visit the Hub at Rolfe Lane, New Romney, call on 01797 363888 or email [email protected]. Interviews with the CEO and representatives of the Trust Board will follow the formal application process.
